Joy is a 13 year old, 15.1 hand gray Thoroughbred mare. She is Jockey Club registered, she is an athletic, well built, and well balanced horse. She has a nice temperament, and wonderful manners but she is a typical hot Thoroughbred that can be hard headed, though well behaved.
Joy is a well schooled horse. Schools to 3'3", dressage basics, and has started a little bit of cross country schooling at the beginner novice level. Joy loves to work. She is a typical Thoroughbred that can get a little fast and hot, but she is very sane and level headed and easily ridden in a snaffle. She would do best with a confident intermediate or up rider.
Joy is a wonderful, proven broodmare and an easy breeder. She has given me 2 gorgeous, healthy fillies (can be seen on the site soon).
She does not have any bad habits, no bucking, biting etc. Loads, hauls, clips, bathes, etc. Tons of show experience (just local open shows, nothing fancy). Very healthy mare. Joy does have typical Thoroughbred feet with a low heel. She has done great without shoes for the past 2 years, but would recommend shoes again if she were to get back into heavy work.
During 2006 Joy and Danielle rode in team practices with the Top Hands Rodeo Drill Team. Joy was amazing with everything, including carrying big flags, riding extremely close to other horses that were carrying flags, wearing western tack, and riding for 3-4 hours at a time. They went on to participate in the Parade of Lights in Columbus, Ohio with the team in November 2006. Joy very patiently stood around for nearly 3 hours waiting for the teams turn to enter the parade even after a 3 hour trailer ride. Joy also did amazing passing by huge crowds and loud parade floats with Christmas lights attached to her and the saddle!
